About this organization
The Period Project is a Greenville, SC nonprofit founded in 2015 to advance menstrual equity across South Carolina. We deliver period supplies to public schools in all 46 SC counties, plus agencies serving people in poverty, and have distributed over 18 million free products to more than 164,000 individuals through grants and community donations. In May 2024, we helped pass a South Carolina law removing sales tax on period products. Beyond distribution, we work to reduce the stigma around menstruation and advocate for broader, more reliable access to supplies.
Mission: Our mission is to facilitate better access to menstrual health products for individuals in need, advocate for equal access to these essential products, and raise awareness of period poverty by leveraging local and regional voices.
