1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of connectgeorgetown.org (the “Site”), operated by Connect Georgetown (“Connect Georgetown,” “we,” “us”). By visiting the Site, searching the directory, submitting a form or using an organization account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
If you use the Site on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for that organization, and “you” includes the organization.
2. What the Site is (and is not)
Connect Georgetown is a free, public directory of nonprofit and community services in Georgetown County, South Carolina. Listings are created and maintained by the organizations themselves and reviewed by our team before they publish. We are a referral resource only: we do not provide the services described in any listing, we do not decide who qualifies for them, and we do not act as an agent for any listed organization.
- No endorsement. Inclusion in the directory means an organization asked to be listed and passed our basic review. It is not a recommendation, certification or guarantee of the organization, its staff or the quality of its services.
- Information changes. Hours, eligibility rules, locations and contact details are supplied by organizations and can change without notice. Always confirm details with the organization before you travel or rely on them.
- Not emergency or professional advice. Nothing on the Site is medical, legal, financial or mental-health advice. If you are in immediate danger or facing a medical emergency, call 911. For a mental-health crisis, call or text 988.
3. Using the Site
You may use the Site to find services for yourself, your family, or the people you serve, and to share links to listings. You agree not to:
- Use the Site in any way that breaks the law or infringes anyone else’s rights.
- Scrape, harvest or bulk-download directory content, contact details or user information, or use automated tools to access the Site beyond ordinary search-engine indexing.
- Submit false, misleading, defamatory, abusive or spam content through any form.
- Impersonate another person or organization, or claim a listing you are not authorized to manage.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, the review queue, or the systems behind the Site, or interfere with the Site’s operation or security.
- Republish directory content in a way that presents it as current when it is not, or that removes attribution to Connect Georgetown or the listed organization.
4. Organization listings and accounts
Who may list. Listings are available to nonprofit, government, faith-based and community organizations that provide services to residents of Georgetown County. We may decline or remove any listing at our discretion, including organizations that fall outside the directory’s purpose, charge for services in ways that are not clearly disclosed, or fail to respond to verification requests.
Accuracy. You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of what you submit and for keeping your listing current. You confirm that you have the right to publish everything you submit, including your logo, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.
Review and editing. New listings and edits enter a review queue and are not published automatically. We may edit submitted content for clarity, length, plain language and consistency with our categories, and we may decline changes that do not meet these Terms.
License to publish. By submitting listing content you grant Connect Georgetown a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to reproduce, display, format, translate and distribute it on the Site and in materials that promote the directory, for as long as the listing is active and for a reasonable period afterward to handle caches and restore requests. You keep ownership of your content.
Accounts. Keep your login private. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly at info@ConnectGeorgetown.org if you believe your account has been compromised or the person who holds it has left your organization. We may suspend accounts that are inactive, misused, or linked to a removed listing.
Pausing or removal. You may pause your listing at any time from your dashboard, and you may ask us to remove it by writing from an email address at your organization’s domain. Removal takes effect within five business days; copies held by search engines may persist longer.
5. Feedback, corrections and other submissions
We welcome corrections, suggestions and feedback through the Site’s forms. Anything you send us this way may be used to improve the Site and the directory without any obligation to you, and we may share a correction with the organization it concerns in order to resolve it. Do not send us confidential information, and never send Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, medical records or immigration documents through the Site.
6. Intellectual property
The Site’s design, code, name, logo, icon set, category structure and original text are owned by Connect Georgetown or its partners and are protected by copyright and trademark law. Listing content belongs to the organizations that submitted it. You may view, print and share individual pages for personal, educational and non-commercial referral purposes, with attribution. Any other use of the Site’s content requires our written permission.
7. Third-party links and services
Listings link to organizations’ own websites, phone numbers, social media and maps, and the Site uses third-party services such as Google Maps to display locations. We do not control those sites or services and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Connect Georgetown disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that any listed organization will provide a service, that you will qualify for it, or that information on the Site is current at the moment you read it.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Connect Georgetown, its funders, partners, staff and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of or reliance on the Site or on any listed organization, even if we were advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
If you submit a listing or other content, you agree to defend and hold harmless Connect Georgetown and its funders, partners, staff and volunteers from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your content, your use of the Site, or your breach of these Terms.
11. Accessibility and language
We work to keep the Site usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology, and we offer it in English and Spanish. If any part of the Site is difficult for you to use, tell us through the Accessibility page and we will help you get the information another way. Where the English and Spanish versions differ, the English version controls.
12. Termination
We may suspend or end your access to the Site, or remove a listing or account, at any time if we believe these Terms have been violated or if continuing would create risk for the public, the directory or a listed organization. Sections 4 (license), 6, 8, 9, 10 and 13 survive termination.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Georgetown County, South Carolina, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and give us 30 days to try to resolve the matter.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Site and the directory evolve. The revision date appears at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on the homepage for at least 30 days. Continuing to use the Site after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
